In this episode, Enterprise runs into some religious extremists who worship the spheres and consider gathering scientific data on them to be punishable by death. They briefly take control of the ship, during which time they delete the gathered data.

Archer gets control back and none of this really has any lasting consequences, but the deleted database comes up in dialog in the next episode, so it’s good to know how it happened.
